Hello Schmoedown fans, Tim here with the preview to the next 1st Round match of the Ultimate Schmoedown Singles Tournament!
If the first match was the battle between two experienced competitors, then the one on Black Friday is the battle of two top rookies of the game. One who has already become a household name, and another who will make his singles debut. It is Ethan “Big Time” Erwin versus “The Cobra” Chance Ellison.
After a great showing alongside Kalinowski in the Anarchy Tournament, “The Cobra” makes his long-anticipated singles debut in this tournament since getting the call-up from the fan leagues. Those that were longtime fans in those leagues such as W.W.M.T. and Full Metal Trivia are looking forward to how Chance will do on his own. From what we have seen in the Anarchy Tournament, Chance has been stellar with only a few holes in his knowledge. He could, with his combined experiences in Anarchy and the fan leagues before, make a good case to be Mara Knopic’s closest competitor for Rookie of the Year by taking the whole tournament and possibly the singles title from John Rocha at the Schmoedown Spectacular.
However, it will not be easy. The rookie he faces has been in several singles matches to put up a rigorous challenge for Chance. He’ll need to stay on top of his game and stay steady with how he takes in questions in order to pull off the upset and advance.
For the other rookie, this is Ethan Erwin’s latest opportunity for the singles title after his loss to Marc Andreyko. The film producer and executive turned out to be one of the best competitors in this season of the Movie Trivia Schmoedown. Even though he didn’t have a good showing in teams play during the Anarchy Tournament, he has an opportunity here to catch up to Mara for Rookie of the Year by winning this tournament and possibly the title from Rocha as well. For him to finish his first season on a high note, his knowledge must be kept up-to-date to avoid being in a position where he doesn’t know the answer to a particular question. His game plan is very solid, so a consistently strong movie knowledge is what it will take for him to go deep in this tournament.
Between the two rookies, Ethan Erwin will be the favorite to advance. Don’t count out Chance though, because if we see him do well in his singles debut as he did in those singles matches in the fan leagues then it will be exciting. Get ready this Friday after the dust settles from the frantic shopping sprees to witness two of the best rookies battle it out in this 1st Round match of the Ultimate Schmoedown Singles Tournament!
